Couples Massage in Burlington: A Shared Way to Slow Down

Between work, family and Vermont winters, it can be hard to find time that's truly yours and the person you care about. That's why couples massage has become one of the most popular things we offer at the studio. It's 90 minutes, side by side, with nothing to do but relax.
What a couples massage is (and isn't)
You and your partner are in the same private room, each on your own table, with two therapists working at the same time. You don't massage each other, and you don't need any experience. You just show up, settle in, and let us take care of the rest. Hot towels are included, as they are with every session.
Each person gets their own massage
One of the most common questions we hear is, "What if we like different pressure?" No problem. Each of you tells your own therapist what you need, so one person can have firm deep tissue work on tight shoulders while the other enjoys a lighter Swedish massage. The setting is shared, but the massage is yours.
Why it's worth doing together
Massage is good for stress on its own. A large review of massage research in Psychological Bulletin found that a single session reduces anxiety, and regular sessions lower anxiety and depression over time. Doing something new and relaxing together adds something more: relationship researchers have found that shared experiences help couples feel closer and more connected.
Many couples tell us the best part is the quiet afterwards: walking out into the evening, both of you loose and calm, with nowhere you need to be.
Not just for romantic couples
Couples massage is a lovely way to spend time with anyone close to you: a friend, a sister, a parent visiting from out of town, or an adult son or daughter. One thing to keep in mind: you'll both be in the same room as you get ready. Your therapists step out while you undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet and blanket, and you stay covered throughout the massage. So choose someone you're comfortable getting settled with.
A few tips
- Book a little ahead. Since we need two therapists at the same time, evening and weekend spots fill quickly, especially around holidays and Valentine's Day.
- Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.
- Talk or don't. Some couples chat a little at first, and most drift into silence. Either is fine.
Give it as a gift
A couples massage makes a thoughtful gift for an anniversary, a wedding, the holidays or new parents who need a break. You can buy a gift card online and send it by email or print it to give in person.
Our 90-minute couples massage is $310. Book online, or text us at 802-355-5585 with any questions. We're at the Chace Mill in Burlington, with plenty of free parking.
